Do you think it’s really possible to learn a language 10 words a day?

It depends! I don't adhere to the idea that there are any gimmicks to learning a language. The key, in my opinion, is committment and hard work. Find out what works for you and give it your best effort. That's my two cents worth.

I think "ten words a day" is an example of something that sounds easy but is really hard. It reminds me of the story of Milo of Croton. The story goes that one day, he lifted a newborn calf. And then every day, he went out and lifted it again. As it grew up, he kept lifting it every day. And in just a few years, he was able to lift a full-grown, 1000-kg bull. It sounds easy, but it's actually impossible.

You need to do more than that. However, I've heard that the average language learner only adds an average of three or four words a day. The constructed language, Basic English, has only a thousand words, and is able to express almost any idea. A thousand words is not a rich vocabulary, but it is probably enough to communicate. If you learned 10 words a day, you'd have over 3,000 words in a year. So as far as vocabulary alone goes, I think the answer is "yes." The problem is that to really learn ten new words, you would need to put in hours of work actually using them, or you'd probably forget them. So learning "ten words a day" probably works out to several hours a day.
