What messenger do most americans use? Like whatsup, or telegram, or viber/skype etc?

I am American: it depends on the age of the person. Of those three I think WhatsApp is the most popular, though many people also just use SMS because it’s usually free here. Also messaging platforms of the common social media apps are also used (FB messenger, etc). Young people may use some different stuff that I don’t know about too.
