"I've just heard him sing for the first time" -＞ 初めて聞いた (first time you hear him singing)
or "I've just heard about him now!"　－＞　初めて知った ( I didn't know him before, I've never heard about him before)

Don't use this kind of hajimete "始めて” it means -to start something. use the other hajimete "初めて" that means "the first time"
