-ING adjectives are used to describe THINGS:
e.g. He lives in a charming house just outside the town.
She always has a warm welcoming smile.
A surprising number of men stay bachelors.
For example, if you speak of "an alarming increase", you mean that the increase alarms you. If you speak of "a surprising number", you mean that the number surprises you.
- ED adjectives are used to describe our FEELINGS:
e.g. She looks alarmed about something.
A bored student complained to his teacher.
I was thanked by the satisfied customer.
Receiver vs. Source
An amused child = The child receives the feeling of amusement.
An amusing ride = The ride causes amusement.

The awaited movie = the movie that has been waited for
The awaiting public = the people that have been waiting for the movie
Your question is about "ing" adjectives and "ed" adjectives. It isn't hard at all. It just takes about 3 minutes to understand.

These words are not used very often, and not used much at all in spoken English. It is a bit formal and stilted. The words could be used in this way, but I'll also give more common sayings.
He awaited his bride at the bottom of the stairs.
Better: He waited for his bride at the bottom of the stairs.
The awaiting movies will be available in four weeks.
The new movies will be available in four weeks. or
The latest movies will be out in four weeks.
The newly released movies will be in the stores in four weeks.
