Does "For understandable reasons, I ....." sound authentic to native English speakers?
I come up with a sentence like "For understandable reasons, I am feeling nervous about attending a university in a unfamiliar country, and would, therefore, like to .....".
But I'm not sure whether staring a sentence with "For understandable reasons" sounds authentic or awkward to native speakers.

The expression is perfectly fine and sounds authentic. :)

For obvious reasons......
But only if it is obvious, of course.
"For understandable reasons"....I wouldn't use that when referring to myself.

It's fine (and I've found other examples of this phrase), but it sounds a bit overwritten. I also have no idea which reasons you are asking me to imagine and understand. Still, if the "understandable reasons" are clear enough from the context, then use it freely.
"Understandably" is enough, if you wanted a second option.
