Hi!
안녕하세요(an-nyeong-ha-se-yo) = Hello. / Hi. / How are you?
안녕 + 하세요 = 안녕하세요.
an-nyeong + ha-se-yo = an-nyeong-ha-se-yo
안녕 = well-being, peace, health
하세요 = you do, do you?
안녕하세요(an-nyeong-ha-se-yo) is the most common way of greeting someone in Korean and it is in formal or polite way.
Or 안녕(an-nyeong ) will do also.
hope it helps..=)

Hi Joanna, here's the answer to your follow up question.
안녕 + 하세요 = 안녕하세요
an-nyeong + ha-se-yo = an-nyeong-ha-se-yo
The following (Hangeul) Korean Alphabet below has the following English sound value:
ㅏ = A as in father
ㄴ= N as in near
ㅕ= YEO as in young
ㅎ= H (initial) as in hand - rat
T (final)
ㅅ= S (initial) as in smile - rat
T (final)
ㅔ= E as in set
ㅛ= YO as in yo yo
ㅇ= silent (initial)
NG (final) as in kingdom
안 = an
녕 = nyeong
하 = ha
세 = se
요 = yo
(안녕하세요) (안---녕----하---세---요) Hangeul is a system where you combine different letters into square shapes to form syllables. Basically, one syllablic block in Korean has to have at least one consonant and one vowel. Any consonant or vowel on its own without forming a square shape cannot make a sound.
Hope it makes sense to you. =)
Enjoy learning....
