Many prepositions can also be used as adverbs. When in doubt, ask the questions' whom' or 'what' after the word. If there is a noun or a pronoun to answer the question, then the word is a preposition with an object--a prepositional phrase. If there is not a noun or pronoun to answer whom or what, then the word is an adverb.

Es una palabra que tanto inglés como español tomaron del latín. Quiere decir "transición". Además, las frases "I am focus" y "I am confuse" debiesen ser "I am focused" (estoy concentrado) o "I am focusing" (me estoy concentrando) y "I am confused" (estoy confundido). ¿A qué te refieres con palabras de transición?
