What's the difference
between "respectful" and "respectable"?
Which one should I use to describe someone who is respected by others?
Thank you!

You are respected by me.
.
I may be a respectable person, if I give others cause or reason to admire me.
I may be a disrespected person, if I give others cause or reason to think of me in a negative way.
.
You may be a respectable person.
.
Anyone may be respectable as long as they enjoy a good reputation.
If a person's reputation is diminished, they may no longer be regarded as respectable.
.
(Hope that helps)
.
I am respectful toward you.
You are respectful towards me.
I am respected by you.
I am respectful of my fellow citizens. My fellow citizens are respected by me.
We can be disrespectful of others. Others may be disrespected by us.

For objects/actions = use respectable
For people = use respectful
EXAMPLE:
That respectful person drives a respectable car!
NOT: That respectable person drives a respectful car = WRONG AND WEIRD

I'm not an expert with English, but that's just what I think.
