'what if we can't get it done on time' or 'how if we can't get it done on time'?
The deadline for the job is the end of the month, what/how if we can't get it done on time?
I suppose both 'what and how' make sense -- 'what we should do if we can't get it done on time' or 'how we should do if we can't get it done on time'. I would be very grateful if you could give me some advice.

The correct way to say it is "What if we don't get it done in time?" Think of it as "What (will happen) if we don't get it done on time?"
