If I may congest.. "Well, if I may to congest, the pool is taking up the place" (AmEng) what does congest mean here? my dictionary gives only "to mass, to collect, to heap" it is a scene from "a night at the roxbury" US movie.i don't have a link, but the scene goes from 0.36.00maybe that's just the idea of illiteracy.

So I looked up the script online and I think the word is "respect" http://www.awesomefilm.com/script/roxt.txt http://www.springfieldspringfield.co.uk/movie_script.php?movie=night-at-the-roxbury-a DOUG "With all due party-throwing respect, you know what the problem is, Mr. Zadir? This pool is taking up all the prime dancing real estate. " This is the only place I can find the phrase "this pool is taking up.." that I can find. Hope this helps :)

"Well, if I may to congest, the pool is taking up the place" (AmEng) what does congest mean here? my dictionary gives only "to mass, to collect, to heap"----- I think you are repeating a word that you have heard, but you are misspelling it and misundertstanding it. What would work in that sentences is this: "If I may conjecture...etc. or "We may conjecture that ...etc."

I agree with Susan612 - the sentence as written makes no sense. Perhaps the word is 'suggest'?

Do you have a link to the actual movie scene? That sentence makes no sense at all.
