Could you tell me the meaning of the sentence?
I came across the sentence I don't understand, when I'm reading a book.
Could you tell me the meaning of the sentence?
The sentence is below.
Finding Cheese was the littlepeoples' way of getting what they though they need to be happy.
Especially, I don't understand the part of "they though".
I feel like the sentence have the meanings without having "they though".

It had to be a typo. Thought instead of though.
And the sentence means they thought they needed something materialistic to be happy when that wasn't the answer.

"...getting what they thought they needed to be happy." The T is missing. ;)

It seems like a typo to me, but I may be wrong. It looks as if it should be "they thought". I don't know what else it could be though, because "they though" just doesn't seem to make sense in this context. Again, I could be wrong, but that's just what I think.
