Pelin
Is this sentence natural? (on foot, driving a car etc.) I came across him the other day on the way.

A native speaker in the U.S. wouldn't say it like that. You might say, "I ran into him the other day on my way to [place]." You could also say, "I saw him the other day on my way to [place]." "On the way" will have "to" and a noun after it unless you say, "I'm on the way," which means, "I'm coming."
