プロの講師Could you explain the phrasw turn on? Is it the same as confined to or limited to in the sent.?
From the literary point of view, the focus of each group is different as it ?turns solely on? the make-up of the members and their predilections.
As far as I understand the definition that makes sense here is "turn on something (also turn upon something) if a situation, event, argument etc turns on a particular thing or idea, it depends on that thing: As usual, everything turned on how much money was available. Right?
What other synonyms is it possible to use here? Will it be ok to use "confined to" or "limited to"?

depends on.
What each group will focus on depends on the members of the group and the things which they like.
"confined to " and "limited to" would not be correct.
