Differences between "appliance, device, unit, apparatus" ? Hi, I have a new question for you. When do you use these words? What I think is that a "device" is something like an Ipod, and an "appliance" is for kitchenware. I don't know about "apparatus" and "unit". In French we say"appareil" for all of them so it's quite tricky. Now can you help me figure out what term should be used in this example?: "In order to reduce the risk of electric shock, do not remove the cover. Appliance is the same meaning of device or they are synonymous. Unit is the whole appliance or referring to the main machine.
