Larry was traveling/rushing along 165?
Larry works with Transport Drivers, Inc. One morning in 2009, Larry was traveling/rushing along 165 north after delivering to one of his passengers/employers. Suddenly, he saw a car with its bright lights on...
1. This is a cloze test. Could you tell me in the first sentence why "traveling" is favored over "rushing"?
2. Why is "employers" favored over "passengers"?
Thank you.

Traveling/rushing - either could fit in the sentence, but 'rushing' gives the sense of speeding/travelling very quickly. There is no information in the context to suggest that Larry needs to 'rush' - if the paragraph said "Larry was late..." you might choose 'rushing'.
passengers/employers - To deliver means to take/convey an item to a person or place. Logically speaking drivers deliver to places/people/organisations that are not in the vehicle (so you wouldn't expect a deliver to a passenger). However, this is not a particularly well worded test. Technically you could argue that either are correct because of the phrase 'after delivering' - it's possible that Larry took a package to a person, and then allowed that same person to become a passenger in the vehicle. It's unlikely though. :-)
