What is the meaning of "nennt gegen" in this sentence?; why is "gegen" also used in the sentence? Erika nennt gegen den Lehrer.

Where did you find this sentence? It doesn't make any sense.

I second what Andreas wrote. This sentence doesn't make sense. The verb "nennen" needs an accusative object. Examples are: Man nennt ihn Tom. Er nennt seinen Namen. "Nennen" isn't used with the preposition "gegen".

It could also mean that she´s running in a race against her teacher? Maybe he or she meant that?
