What's the meaning of "they went through the rodent equivalent of withdrawal"?
You may love to soak up the sun—or the UV rays at the tanning salon. But are you actually addicted?
A study finds that mice regularly exposed to UV produced the feel-good opioid β-endorphin, and behaved like addicts.
What’s more, when they were given a drug that blocked the opioid effects, they went through the rodent equivalent of withdrawal: shaky paws and chattering teeth. The study is in the journal Cell.

"Withdrawal" is what human drug addicts go through when they stop taking drugs. Withdrawal symptoms can include shaking, anxiety, fatigue, irritability, and pain.
In this case, they are saying that the rats ("rodents") experienced the same kind of symptoms that human drug addicts experience when they stop taking drugs. They are saying that the rats were addicted to UV radiation.

You didn't completely read the entire sentence and missed the meaning. A colon symbol ":" for this sentence was used to list what the withdrawal symptoms were. The mice were initially exposed to UV regularly and suddenly these regular exposures abruptly stopped. This sudden stop caused the mice to show signs of withdrawal (i.e., chattering teeth and shaky paws).
Other similar examples are drug addicts who suddenly stops taking their regular dose of their chosen drug.
