take a look? have a look? What is the difference between 'take a look at' and 'have a look at' ? I often use 'have a look at', for example I want to check my students work , and I ask them 'Can I have a look? '. Is that right ? or could I say 'Can I take a look? ' . Does it sound more natural ? Please help me.

I think this is a matter of personal preference. I say "take a look" or just "look" but "have a look" is commonly said. I think that the British might say "have a look" more than Americans do.

"Have a look" have more usage in the UK, so it's more geographical difference. However, "Have..." sounds also a little more polite than "Take..." which is more forceful.

Both sound very natural, you can use one or the other depending on what comes to mind!
