Good question. Both can be used depending on your sentence structure. You regret things that you have done or you can HAVE regrets about something. So: You can REGRET IT. or You can HAVE REGRETS ABOUT it.
Hope that helps. Good Luck!

If you use 'regret' as a verb, you don't use about. You have two options
1. regret+noun
2. regret+verb+ing
1. I regret my mistake
2. I regret that decision
1. I regret buying the house
2. I regret saying that to her

Hi Olga,
You do not need to use "about" with "regret".
Examples:
If you use it as a verb, you may write:
I regret telling you my secret.
I regret my actions.
In these sentences, "regret" means the ACTION of feeling sorry and wishing something was done differently.
If you use it as a noun, you may write:
I would like to express my regret.
Life is full of regrets.
In these sentences, "regret" means a state of BEING sorry that something was not done properly.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Lance
