In traditional and simplified Chinese~ This is how you improve 這是你如何進步的。(这是你如何进步的。) This is how we build a building 這是我們如何蓋房子的。(这是我们如何盖房子的。) This is how you can get home 這是你如何到家的。(这是你如何到家的。)

This is how you improve. 我们是这样进步的 - We improve like this. This is how we build a building. 我们是这样修房子的 - We build a building like this. This is how you can get home. 我们是这样回家的 - We go home like this. In Chinese, we don't usually use it, that, this at the beginning of the sentence while at the same hide the suject in the clause behind. If there is a subject, and I want to say something about it without a literary concern (if you are not a grandmaster of Chinese and is writing a literature work), simply state it first at the beginning of the sentence. In Chinese, it would be incredibly rare to find that the suject is hidden in a clause. A more colloquial answer was provided by Sue under Jeff's answer (Jeff's answer actually is wrong).

But we usually say it in other ways, Raymond's answer is what we usually use in Chinese .

If you really wanted to emphasize " This is how", use "这就是”in the beginning of the sentence. This is how we build a house. 这就是我们怎么盖房子的。
