what does "curation" mean in this context? There is very big cultural news in Cannes. Andrew Lloyd Webber has become respectable overnight. The festival scheduled 24 Frames, the mesmeric posthumous film from the late, great Iranian director, Abbas Kiarostami – an experimental curation of 24 dreamlike images, inspired by great artworks and accompanied by music.

"Curate" can be a fancy name for "to choose or collect." The person responsible for choosing and buying paintings or other things in a museum is called the "curator." "Curate" is used when the thing being chosen are wonderful, rare, and expensive, and the "curator" is a person with great "taste," great knowledge and judgement of quality.

A 'Curator' is a person who organises an exhibition. For example, in an art gallery or museum. Curation is doing this task. So curation used in this text is similar to saying exhibition or show.
