Could you please help me 1, I would suggest you approach it the way I asked you to, for this case, i don't understand why the writer is using "the way", whether the writer left out "in" before "the way", the real grammar should be i would suggest......in the way i asked you to. 2, No, you can't use it that way, for this case, the real grammar should be "you can't use it in that way", the writer is missing "in" before that way, correct? Could you please help to explain to me in detail.

In American English, “in that way” and “that way” can be used interchangeably in your sentences, and both would be considered grammatical.

The writer is not suggesting he do it in a particular way but reminding him to do it"the way" he had mentioned previously. In this case you can omit the word "in". By removing the "in" the writer is emphasising the word "the" to indicate he does not want him to deviate from the original choice.
