Tengo una pregunta sobre ocurrir
¿ Cómo se te ha ocurrido ... ...?
En ingles, debe ser “How did it occur to you to … …”
Es correcto?
Porque ocurrir tiene 2 significaciones
1. happen
2. en ingles: It occurred to me to do sth. Which I assume should be similar to "it came to my mind"…but that is only a thought, think to do sth...
and here, ¿ Cómo se te ha ocurrido ... ...?
it is only a thougth, if there is any actual activity?
this just made me a little confused...can anyone help?
Muchas gracias~Andrés,Paco,Josep y Cherry~ Ahora lo entiendo~ Jaja
occurir: happen~ thus actual activity
occurirse: think~ thus an idea

Hola Lina ,
Ocurrir
in Spanish means " happen"
Ocurre que ...... It happens that ....
ha ocurrido algo .. something happened
Ocurrirse
It is the one mentioned in your sentence
"¿ Cómo se te ha ocurrido ... ...? "
and it means: to think about something , to come to mind , to cross one's mind.
In English "occur" has 2 meanings ,actually the two previous meanings .
Occur means to happen as in Spanish "ocurrir"
The event occurs once annually.
The other meaning is to come to mind as in Spanish "ocurrirse".
How did it occur to you ?
The idea occurred to him.

It's only a thought. But if you write "¿Como te ha ocurrido? it means "How did it happen (to you) ?".
The difference is "se". It changes all.
Why?
Never mind. It's that way. ¿Como se te ha ocurrido ? = an idea, a thought, a theory.
¿Como te ha ocurrido? = an accident, something disapointing

dos ejemplos con los dos significados:
ayer ocurrió una cosa muy triste en mi ciudad.
se me ocurrio una buena idea y encontre la solucion.
ocurrir= suceder
ocurrirse= venir a la mente, tener un pensamiento de repente (acerca de algo).

Let's try to conjugate the reflexive verb "ocurrirse" :
yo me ocurro ? tu te ocurres? el se ocurre?...
Impossible!
This is a nonsense!
There's nothing like "ocurrirse" as a reflexive verb. Only "ocurrir" mostly used as an impersonal verb.( like acontecer, acaecer an so on)
The differences between " se me ha ocurrido" y "me ha ocurrido" are peculiarities of the Spanish language: two different meanings with the same verb, and determined only by the inclusion or absence of the particle "se".

OCURRIR: Acaecer, acontecer, suceder .
Dicho de una idea: Venirse a la mente de repente y sin esperarla
OCURRIR: to happen, to ocurr, it came to my mind suddenly and swift
como se te ocurrio ? it could be understandable like: how did you think in that thing?
