warrant and pride
I am confused of the word 'warrant' and 'pride' which is appropriate in the sentence.
"We____ ourselves not only on the quality of our research , but also on its contribution to improving our world".
The answer is pride and I don't know why couldn't use 'warrant'.
Could anybody help me this question?Thank you very much.

The context is not correct for "warrant".
"We pride ourselves" - we are proud of what we do. We are pleased with what we do.
"warrant" means justify. "This crime warrants a serious punishment." "This event will warrant more investigation." If you used "pride" instead of warrant, these sentences would not make sense.
