Viel vs. viele is exactly the same as it is with much vs. many in English. If you can't count it, it's viel (much), if you can count it, it's viele (many). viel Zucker, viel Salz, viel Gemüse, viel Obst, viel Gefühl, viel Freude, viel Temperament ABER viele Leute, viele Tiere, viele Zuschauer, viele Gurken, viele Bananen, viele Spieler, viele Zuhörer Btb: The same applies to the opposite wenig (uncountable) and wenige (countable).
