This depends a lot on context. It was slightly confusing as you used 'trade' rather than 'tradesperson'.
I would disagree with both Damien and John. Although you definitely pay money 'to' an account at a bank, this is different.
With your 'account' with a tradesperson, it is different. I would say that you pay an amount _on_ your account.
You pay a tradesperson, they put the money into their bank account, and they take that payment off your account with them.
The comment about 'could' is definitely true though.
