how would you translate 취향 공동체?
I think it's something like same-taste community but I'm not sure that sounds correct...

It doesn't seem to be a common phrase. I think I've heard 취향이 같은 사람들 or 공통된 취미를 통해 만난/모인 사람들 more often.
Anyway, your interpretation is correct. I would call it "same-taste community" or "shared taste community".
