If I said 星条旗 to mean the US flag (花旗 = 美国国旗), would Chinese speakers understand it? 嗨，大家好！ In my native Korean, the American flag (Star Spangled Banner) is called 성조기 which could be written as "星条旗" in 汉字. Now, I just learned today that the word 花旗 is the usual term in Chinese but would Chinese speakers also understand "星条旗"? 请大家分享我的问题。谢谢大家。

Yes,Chinese will understand it.星条旗=美国国旗 BTW，花旗 come from Citibank（花旗银行），in 1902 Citibank came into Shanghai，Chinese people saw the American flag in the bank, the Flag is colorful ,so they called Citibank 花旗银行，then called America 花旗国，so 花旗 stands for American flag.but this is old name. right now Chinese people say 星条旗 commonly。
