Is this sentence natural? Or, what do you say? My spirits went up when I heard the good news.

the correct phrase is "my spirits lifted/were lifted" "my spirits were lifted when I heard the good news" It means you were elated and felt excited exuberant etc. "mutluluk - kaygısız" "mutlu etmek"

Hi Yes, it's one of many possible ways of saying this. If you asked one hundred native speakers this question you'd probably get lots of different alternative ways of saying the same thing. Personally, I would prefer to use a different verb, such as 'improved' or 'rose' , or one which expresses the amount that things went up, such as 'soared'. But your sentence is perfectly fine. Chris
