Actually my favorite mental sport is chess and I know from experience that it is a popular game in this continent.

I wonder if I use the phrase "I know from experience" corretly here in relation to the next sentence " it's popular......

Yes the sentence is good. I´m not sure why you want to put "from experience" in you can just say I know it is a popular game in this continent. I´m not native though I´m C2
