Are both OK? And, can I use them interchangeably? This is what comes out of it for me. That's the conclusion I've drawn out of it.

The second one is correct. The first one is not. It should be "This is what I got out of it." It's a more casual expression. (I speak American English from the eastern coast. It could be different in other places.)

In conversation and very casual writing, the two are interchangeable. The first is more colloquial and informal. In formal writing (college and university writing, for example) the first is far too informal. You need to use the 2nd form.
