The use of the word "sprawl"
Did I get the right use of the word "sprawl" in the following sentences?
- He sprawled himself on the sofa as he was exhausted.
- The glass felt down, sprawling in several pieces.
- The virus is sprawling quickly.
- This way local governments have replaced unplanned sprawl.

2. It’s not incorrect but sounds a little unnatural.... shattered is more correct here.
3. Incorrect - we would not use sprawling in this instance

4 - ok. Sprawl means a spread, usually form a concentrations centre such as the centre of the city to the surronding areas. As such 'in this case, "sprawl" means a concentration of people, ' does not describe it well. It is more the spread, not the concentration. The sentence is however correct.

Here are my thoughts!
1. This makes sense, but most people would say he “sprawled himself out on the sofa...”
2. I guess you could use it this way, but most people would use “shattered” in this instance rather than sprawl.
3. The world “spreading” would be used here
4. This makes sense! Governments say things like “urban sprawl” when a city is growing.
