Up down to
Hi, there
Let’s say you are driving down a hill into the city, returing from a vacation, for example, and there is a taffic jam. The you are talking to your spouse next to you and you say “it doesn’t look like the traffic jam is all the way into the city. I think it is only down to that gas station down there”
Does it sound odd to say “it is only DOWN TO that gas station down there”
What if I said “The traffic is only backed UP DOWN TO that gas station down there”… Does it sound odd to say “backed up down to”?
Which of THESE sentences is right?
Thank you very much

Both of these sentences are commonly used ways to make that statement. If one is technically more correct than the other, I imagine that it would be "backed up down to", but that is only an opinion - I may not be correct. I use both ways in equal measure.
