a doctor asking a patient "What is the matter?" in Mandarin The CD that is included with my book has a comprehension dialogue with words that are not included in the book. The book has vocabulary for parts of the body. In the dialogue, the doctor asks the patient "What's the matter?" in Mandarin. It sounds to me like "Na li bu shufu" I don't know if that is even close to what he actually said. The only nali i know is na3li3 meaning where. Is the doctor asking where something hurts or where something is wrong? Does anyone recognize that phrase in spite of my mangling it and can tell me what the phrase really is in pinyin and simplified characters? My dictionary translates shu1fu as "comfortable ; to be well" and has no tone on the fu part.. Is the na3li3 part of the question the same word for "where" and the bu4 part of the expression the same as "not" so that the translation would be literally, in English, "Where are you not well?"? Also, I noticed that there is no subject such as ni3 in the sentence. I imagine it is similar to English, where a doctor could ask "Where is it hurting you?" but could also simply ask "Where does it hurt?" I also noticed that in the answers I received everyone who put pinyin in the answer put a second tone on the "fu" in shufu so that it is shu1fu2 but my dictionary has no tone on the fu and reads shu1fu. Is my dictionary just missing that tone (a printing error) or are both correct?
