Russian Nicknames
I'm looking for a list of Russian names with their nicknames (ник).

I didn't find it with Google. So if you have a long list, please link it. If not, feel free to posts hundreds of replies under this question to list every single nickname seperately. ;-)Thanks to all of you for your answers so far.

@Russian Tess - I know about the "regular" nicknames, mostly built with apart of the name and the ending "tschik" or "ruschka". I meant especially those names, you can't see imediately, which is te full name. Like Dmitri -- Mitja.

There are many of them in the list which has been linked bei Anastasia. And there are also the meanings of the names.

(Although I just wrote my example in latin letters, you can write in russian letters, if you have any other examples.)

PS - the list attached by Russian Tess looks very interesting, but some names not only have non-Russian origins, but are extremely rare or not used at all in Russia, I must say. Готфрид, for instance. Also I noticed a typo on the Boys' nicknames list - Лев spells with a "е"  and not a "ё"

The list of the Russian names on the site Anastasia found for you is quite full, I would say. I can give you more less ‘regular’ names as you have requested: 

Ванятка - derived from Ваня, Иван 

Васёк, Василёк - from Василий 

Сашок, Санёк - from Саша, Александр 

Митёк - from Митя, Дмитрий 

I am not quite happy about using the word nicknames here though. I know it’s widely used, especially by westerners, but strictly speaking it’s incorrect to call them nicknames because what we are talking about here is not nicknames but rather versions of a given name. Do you know what I mean?

Is there a particular name you want a nickname for or are you aiming at a collection of all Russian names and their nicknames? I must warn you, it’s going to be a very long list! :-) 

I’ll try to explain about the nicknames. Take my name, for example. The full name is Tatiana, Tanya is a short one. The affectionate name is Tanyechka, a boyfriend or husband could call me that. Also Tanyoosha or Tanyooshka if I were a child. Other nicknames are Tan or Tanka, pronounced with a soft [n] and would be used by close friends or members of the family.

Yes. Short names or diminutive names. If you give the search engine those word combinations, I think you should get better results than with nicknames.
