Is this sentence correct? My lungs trade oxygen for carbon dioxide through the tiny balloons . If it is changed into “trade carbon dioxide for oxygen “,is it correct too?

Also if you are interested, the tiny balloons are called "alveoli".

Hey. Actually the second one is correct, the first one is not. When you trade ABC for XYZ, it means, you give ABC, and receive XYZ. When we breathe, we breathe out carbon dioxide (as a waste product), and breathe in oxygen. So you should be saying, "My lungs trade carbon dioxide for oxygen".

“Trade” is not normally used in this context. The better word is “exchange.” It’s a gas exchange between the alveolar spaces and capillaries.
