旅行、ハイキング、サイクリングなどアウトドアライフが大好きで、バドミントンやフリスビーで体を動かしている。幸運なことに、1992年から93年にかけて2年間、世界中を旅しました。主な趣味は、科学と自然、歴史、読書、芸術、音楽です。中国とベトナムで12年間英語を教えた後、最近イギリスに戻りました。教えることが私の情熱となったのは、人と接し、会話することが常に好きだったからです。
教えることを始めてから、この仕事が大好きになり、後ろを振り返ることはありませんでした。イギリス（8年）とアジア（12年）の両方で20年にわたる指導、家庭教師、トレーニングの経験を持ち、生徒のレベルや要求に応じて、幅広い指導スタイルとテクニックを習得、発展させてきました。生徒のニーズ、レベル、モチベーションを知ることは、1対1のオンライントレーニングほど簡単で、パーソナルなものではありません。スピーチ、リーディング、リスニング、理解、発音、ライティング、文法、試験対策、IELTS、会話、ビジネス英語のクラスで経験を積んでいます。
リラックスした教授スタイルで、学習をポジティブな経験とし、明確な成果を念頭に置いています。アジアにいる間に、A2～C1レベル、Int'～Adv'のトピックやビジネス英語など、様々な英語教材を集めました。11歳以上のプレ・インターミディエイトから上級レベルの生徒が私の好みです。1対1の授業は、学習者一人ひとりに合わせて授業を進めることができ、学習が早く進むので、私のお気に入りの教授法です。教材

Ian is a really structured and thoughtful tutor. He starts by breaking down how native speakers actually sound — things like rhythm, tone, and natural flow — which makes a big difference. Then he builds on that through dialogue practice, so you’re not just learning, you’re actually using the language.
He also exposes you to British culture in a really natural way, which I found really helpful. Everything feels very tailored — he designs each session based on your interests and what you want to focus on, and he always comes prepared with a few different options to choose from.
After each session, he gives clear and useful feedback, which helps you see your progress and know what to work on next. Overall, he’s very organised, engaging, and I’ve been really happy with my lessons.
