Haru

Haru is a strong recommend. Haru is an incredibly kind, patient, and helpful teacher. Since I was self-taught, I was incredibly nervous about speaking with someone, but he quickly helped me overcome that. He has a casual demeanor that makes the lessons comfortable. I've been taking lessons from Haru for five years now. In that time, he's never once made me feel dumb or seemed frustrated with me, even though I've forgotten things or when I've screwed up on some of the basics. He really knows his grammar and has a deep understanding of both the language, and of what (at least English-speaking) learners have trouble with and how to deal with it. We've had a structured approach in the past, going through books, but he's also good at taking whatever tangent I've been on lately and making that an effective learning tool. 10/10 - would take lessons from again.

Amazing, Haru is a brilliant teacher. Assessed my level very quickly and pitched the lesson perfectly. This is exactly the sort of lesson I prefer. It felt less like academic study and more like I was actually actively speaking and learning the language. Highly recommended! Thank you Haru San!!!

Haru is wonderful. We sometimes get sidetracked by my random questions and he always has really great answers that help me understand so much.

Haru is a fantastic teacher. I originally looked for a Japanese teacher because I felt directionless with my own studies. Haru helped me have a goal and a path. We are currently working through Genki 2. He is always willing to answer my very difficult questions and has patience when I struggle to ask something in Japanese. I also cannot stress this enough: Haru has NEVER made me feel shy, embarrassed, or uncomfortable when I speak Japanese. He’s incredibly kind, courteous and, again, patient. Not only is he very knowledgeable, but he has the ability to craft a roadmap for your learning. Additionally, I feel like Haru has become a friend of mine. If you’re looking for a teacher that will make you feel comfortable right away, look no further. I highly recommend!! I plan on working with Haru for as long as I can.
