Misael

Misael is a wonderful instructor. I started lessons with Misael due to the impending arrival of my newborn child, wanting to spruce up my vocabulary and understanding of how to speak to children. In the very first lesson Misael had materials prepared specifically tailored to my individual needs. He is also quite good at allowing the student to direct the lesson where they want to take it. He doesn't go off on his own tangents, but will follow you down yours while providing instruction, corrections, and cultural context along the way. He asks students the way they like to receive corrections whether in the moment or afterwards and abides by their preference. He also has a uniquely wide experience in the Spanish language having been born in Latin America, but living in Spain for nearly a decade. He also shows the same experience speaking English, having a good knowledge of both American and British English. I would absolutely recommend Misael to anyone trying to learn Spanish.

So far, I've taken 20-something 60 min lessons from Misael, mostly for conversation practice. He's a very friendly and patient teacher. If I bring a topic I want to talk about, he's happy to talk about it. If I'm out of ideas, he has plenty of topics of his own. He gives corrections and new vocabulary in the chat. Recommended.

Misael is always well prepared. His enthusiasm for teaching Spanish is evident in every word. He listens very carefully. He creates a very safe space to try to learn and speak Spanish. He had me speaking sentences in my very first lesson! I particularly like it that he invites questions - large or small or however goofy you may think they are - he welcomes them all and works to make sure that you get an answer that clarifies your confusion. In just 4 lessons I feel that I can already construct simple sentences. He also uses what you know from other languages that might be relevant to help you move into Spanish lessons. I don't feel stressed after the lesson - I feel motivated to have another!

Misael made me feel immediately comfortable and was so kind during our lesson. Meeting new people, especially in Spanish, is really hard for me (thanks, social anxiety!) and I'm excited to continue classes with Misael.

I was late (no excuse) and we had terrible audio and screen-sharing problems, all of which are very unusual, yet he still made the lesson a positive experience and assigned homework for next time. He's a pro.
