Eriko Kageyama

Eriko-Sensei is the best teacher out there! I have tried over 20 other teachers and none even come close to having the talent and genius that Eriko-Sensei possesses. She has definitely been blessed with a gift from 神様 and her style of teaching is a totally unique, fun, interesting, challenging, and comprehensive. Brilliant!! After being her student for around 6 months now, I don’t think I could ever take another lesson with anyone else but her. As always, Thank you Eriko-Sensei, this review is coming straight from my heart.

Eriko is always very encouraging, understanding and accomodating; her lessons are light hearted and fun but to the point, well paced and well thought-through. I have been learning with her for well over a year, and it was worth every session. I fully recommend studying with her. We usually start out with a bit off small talk (the weather,...), then we go through our current lesson which she prepares with pictures and sentences from the textbook but also adds in additional material and examples that she can pull out when more is needed. She adjusts the speed of her lesson on the spot to how am I fairing (and how well prepared I am). We sometimes use Spanish and/or English as a bridge language, but mainly she sticks with explanations in Japanese which works very well. She also encourages me to repeat questions I asked in English to repeat in Japanese; which I really appreciate. Speaking and being understood is easy and encouraging with Eriko. Thank you!

Wow, just wow! えりこさんは本当にすごい先生です。I cannot write the following in Japanese (yet), so I'll write it in English for everyone to read. I had a previous teacher and within one year we did 7 lessons. With Eriko-san every lesson equals one chapter. I am not going crazy about how many chapters one does within one lesson, but it is very nice to be moving at a fast pace. At least this is how I like it. We do not talk about general things, we delve straight into the vocabulary and the grammar and use it immediately. This way, I do not only use the vocabulary that I am comfortable with, but I am forced to use new words. 来週のレッスンは楽しみです！

レッスンをありがとうございました！エリコ先生と一緒に話すのはいつも楽しいです。ほとんど7年間日本語を話さなかったので、緊張して、自分の考えをよく表現することができなかったが、エリコ先生はたくさん励ましてくれたので、少し自信を取り戻し、もっと話してみたいと思いました。

Aunque me he hecho la clase recien levantada, Eriko sensei me ha animado mucho a resolver los ejercicios gramaticales. Puede que el secreto de entender mejor sea dormir más :)
