I've taken several free-talk lessons with Terumi now and I highly recommend his lessons! He's a natural conversationalist and stealthy interviewer who asks perceptive follow-up questions about whatever we're musing about (I spend most of the lesson speaking in Japanese without even realizing it). He says in his profile that his highest priority is to help students enjoy the learning process and improve, which is clear in the bespoke vocabulary that he uses in conversation (taking notes for new words/phrases and grammar, he has perfected the concept of scaffolding learning) and also in his patience and ability to help me circumlocute to find the words I'm searching for. Time flies in our lessons because of his genuine curiosity about a wide variety of topics and I find myself readily reviewing my vocabulary in part because I'm thinking back to our conversation throughout the day and I'll think "How did we even get on that topic?" Our conversations are so fun!

It's always a pleasure to meet with Terumi-sensei. He's always very patient and adapts to my needs which is reassuring as a learner. He's also very diligent in taking notes and leaving write-ups to ensure I can more easily review the words that came up in my own time. As always, I recommend.

Terumi-san's lessons are really fun. He is patient, positive, very easy to talk to, explains my mistakes well, shows how to improve, and he is encouraging. He facilitates conversation exceptionally well, allowing me to talk about my hobbies and other topics I'm interested in whilst improving my Japanese! My Japanese speaking confidence has improved too!
