I had another class with Martinus today where we discussed in Latin, the life of Virgil, and next lesson we will continue with a study of the Aeneid. Martinus was encouraging throughout, and I got a lot out of the lesson.

Martin is a great teacher genuinely passionate about Latin and classical antiquity. He is dedicated to spoken Latin as a key pathway and goal toward full proficiency. In fact we have barely spoken a word in any other language over the past ten classes. Sometimes when he explains certain interesting cultural topics, his vast vocabulary can exceed my limits of comprehension. But that has pushed me to listen very attentively to pick up as much as I can to engage in productive dialogue. He encourages me to speak, gives me time to form complete sentences, and corrects my grammar and dictions. I was able to improve a great deal learning with him, especially in conjunction with my university Latin reading course. But an emerging feel for the language can only be gained here through listening and speaking at native levels, which Martin certainly approaches. Me verum delectant sermones nostri disputationesque. Gratias tibi ago, Martine!

I had my first lesson with Martinus today, and I was very impressed. I am confident he will continue to help me with my spoken Latin. I look forward to our next lesson.

Classes with Martinus are always informative and enjoyable. He explains everything very well whenever I have a question, he's patient and thorough, and he offers helpful tips about how to remember things I consistently forget. He has great enthusiasm for the subject, which brings it alive and makes everything more enjoyable, in addition to helping with my comprehension and being able to take unfamiliar words or usages in context and internalise the language. Having free talk on whatever subjects pop up is also incredibly helpful, and Martinus is very patient and encouraging when I'm struggling to say things that are out of reach for me, and always helps me find the most natural and correct way to phrase things, and explains the different senses of saying things in different ways.
