Jhoanna is a patient, encouraging teacher who brings a lot of positive energy into lessons! As a teacher by profession, I can really see the practical experience she leverages even here on italki. And as a plus for me, she had lived in the same city that I called a hometown in the Philippines, so we're able to incorporate that into our lessons! For our first lesson, Teacher Jhoanna prepared some slides showcasing what's changed there since I moved away as a teenager, so that we could talk (in Cebuano) in depth about that. It was very enjoyable, engaging, and educational for me, while being able to practice and refresh on the language. I wholeheartedly recommend Jhoanna for anyone's Cebuano learning needs. If you're a native english speaker trying to learn Tagalog or Basaya, you can't go wrong with Jhoanna. She's patient and easy to talk with and has a gentle way of helping smooth out bad pronunciation. She helped me gain a better understanding of Davao City and the surrounding area. I'd recommend.
