Mariya is patient and she is a very good listener -- both excellent qualities in a foreign language tutor. It is pleasant and helpful to work with someone who makes me feel comfortable stumbling through my thoughts, and who uses Russian except for the times when English translation improves learning/understanding. The lesson with Mariya was great - she's very patient and knowledgeable and got me doing lots of speaking and listening, which is what I need to work on. She also provided loads of valuable advice about what I should be doing outside of lessons to move forward with my Russian. I will definitely have more lessons with Mariya :-)

It was not so much a lesson as it was a treatise on teaching. I'll give her suggestions a try.
