Kanako was recommended to me by a friend and her lesson was just what I needed! It was clear, we reviewed my goals, and she encouraged me to speak with confidence. She also sends notes after class. I've had 3 conversation practice classes with Kanako-san and I've already booked another 7 more before my trip to Japan!! Kanako-san is encouraging, patient and really easy to talk to. She gives me the confidence to express my thoughts and feelings in Japanese and I'm all the more excited for my trip because of our lessons! I wanted to practice a couple of scenarios with her for my trip (e.g. restaurant, shopping) and she came prepared to the lessons with a specific Google Doc for me with handy phrases suitable for my level! It genuinely feels like chatting with a friend and I feel like that's the best way to learn! She's always thinking about specific phrases or vocab that I personally would need, rather than just generic ones and I really appreciate that thoughtfulness. I just finished another lesson with Kanako. With each lesson I feel my confidence improving. Lately, we have been reviewing the nuance behind certain phrases and grammar structures. It’s been very helpful to review that in real time!

Kanako-sensei is engaging, supportive, and encouraging. She always asks plenty of questions and gives me space to try answering on my own before stepping in to guide me when needed. Our lessons are mostly conversation-based, since that's what I need the most practice with, but she’s also flexible and happy to bring in materials, like articles, when I want to try something different. I always feel at ease in her lessons, and she does a great job of helping me stay focused. I definitely recommend her classes!

Today I was a bit tired from work the night before, but Kanako made the lesson fun and engaging. That energy made me feel comfortable speaking even when I made mistakes. She also helped me learn more natural expressions to use.
