Yarphel

Yarphel is an amazing Tibetan teacher! If you intend to learn Tibetan, you should go with Yarphel, he will not let you down. He brings with him immense knowledge of Buddhism and Tibetan culture and he makes an excellent conversational partner when teaching the language. He is very friendly and hospitable and will welcome you warmly wherever you are in your Tibetan language journey.

Yarphel La is an encouraging and intelligent teacher who has been a magical part of my journey as a half Tibetan taking the initiative to finally start the process of learning to comfortably read and speak Tibetan. After first completing 5 wonderful in-person sessions in Dharamshala earlier this year, I've enjoyed making progress through our continued sessions online. Yarphel La is great at language instruction, educating about Tibetan culture/customs, AND helping me build confidence in my ability. Thank you Genla Yarphel!

I cannot recommend Yarphel la enough! He has been wonderful in helping me understand how to read Tibetan script and navigate the differences between colloquial and written language. What sets him apart is his focus on Amdo Tibetan, which is exactly what I need since my husband's family are Amdo speakers. I did try learning from my husband first — let's just say that experiment ended quickly! Yarphel la is patient, clear, and encouraging, and I have learned so much in our lessons. I plan to continue for a long time and could not be happier with my progress!

Yarphel is awesome, and even though I am still a beginner in tibetan, I agree with ila malhotra gregory, I can tell he will be even better once we can start digging into the literature. He is very well traveled and interested in languages. It is very easy to ask him really specific questions about subtle differences between english and Tibetan. He's also just a fun guy. He gets me motivated to dig back into my textbook to learn something new. I can't wait for every lesson.

Yarphel la has been such a great teacher. He is patient and takes the time to explain everything. I am trying to learn the Amdo dialect because that is where my husband is from and Yarphel la has been helpful with telling me the differences between all of the dialects. I suggest anyone trying to learn Tibetan, learn from him.
