Soy comunicadora social y vivo en Medellín, Colombia. El arte es algo que me hace vibrar, mi pasión por los idiomas comenzó desde que, precisamente gracias a la música y el cine, descubrí diferentes culturas y lenguas que significaban todo un nuevo mundo para mí. Dentro de mi país, he tenido la oportunidad de conocer nuevas culturas, debido a la gran riqueza que tenemos, estuve en la Guajira y el Amazonas, los dos extremos de Colombia, y acercarme a esto, me permitió reafirmar que aprender y enseñar sobre las diferencias y maravillas de cada cultura es algo apasionante. Partiendo de este precepto, viajé a los Estados Unidos, donde estuve durante un año estudiando y perfeccionando el idioma

Desde que estaba en los inicios de mi carrera universitaria, Comunicación Social, comencé haciendo tutorías de redacción y ortografía en mi lengua materna y apoyo en Inglés a mis compañeros de la facultad, este fue mi primer acercamiento a la educación. Durante mi estadía en Estados Unidos, tuve la oportunidad de enseñar español a pequeños de entre 5 y 9 años, lo cual reforzó mi interés en la pedagogía y en compartir e intercambiar enseñanzas sobre culturas. Al regresar a Colombia, no solo ejerzo mi carrera, sino que además doy clases particulares de inglés a adultos y niños.

Partiendo de mi experiencia a la hora de interactuar con un nuevo lenguaje, me enfoco en mis lecciones a reforzar el vocabulario mientras se estudian las estructuras, esto se hace de modo conversacional, he descubierto tras ensayar diferentes métodos, que el estar inmerso en el idioma hace que sea mucho más natural y llegue a ser automático mucho más pronto. A través de temas cotidianos, culturales y por qué no, que sean tendencia se genera una mejor afinidad con la nueva lengua.

Sara provided exactly the sort of instruction I was looking for. I can read and write Spanish fairly well, but I struggle to speak and understand fast enough to take part in a normal conversation, and I frequently make mistakes and run into words I don't know. Sara spoke very clearly and adjusted her speed and vocabulary to make sure that I could understand her. She patiently corrected my mistakes in a very unobtrusive and encouraging way, and when I got stuck, she provided the words I needed in a form that I could review later. If your goal is to improve your conversational fluency, then she can definitely help, and I highly recommend her.

I love my sessions with Sara. Two full years we've been meeting now, and my Spanish-speaking friends (especially those in Mexico, whom I recently saw for the first time in a year) all express amazement at how far my Spanish has advanced in that time. For the first time in my life, with a number of them I'm finding that my Spanish is now significantly better than their English, which is a happy day.

I love that Sara doesn't just correct what I say when I make a mistake, in a friendly way but is super encouraging too. She always waits patiently for me to try and say what is on my mind in Spanish and never makes me feel like I'm making no sense etc. Thanks, Sara, your help is much appreciated!
