If you are looking for a great Korean teacher on italki, Dylan is the top choice! From the start, I felt comfortable and at ease in his classes. I built a solid foundation in the Korean language at a pace that was comfortable for me. Dylan takes time to make sure you understand the material and answers any questions you may have. I never felt discouraged or embarrassed in these classes. If I struggled with pronunciation, concepts, or word choice, Dylan would kindly explain things and steer me in the right direction so that I would understand. I was given plenty of options to practice concepts and speak both in class and on my own. This helped me develop confidence in my sentence construction and conversation skills. I feel like I am really understanding and progressing in learning Korean. I wouldn’t have been able to do that without his help so I am very thankful.

I have been studying Korean with Dylan for more than a year. I had no prior experience with an Asian language, and while I had learned other non-Roman alphabets for work reasons, I was truly at ground zero when we began. Dylan has patiently and methodically guided me from learning the alphabet to conjugating verbs in different tenses to forming simple sentences to reading elementary texts to improving my auditory processing. I appreciate Dylan's flexibility as some days he must pivot and review a previous grammar point with me rather than moving onto a new topic. I also admit to being a challenging student due to my age and profession yet he is always upbeat, professional, and prepared with engaging, structured, and creative lessons and homework.

I cannot believe I have been studying with Dylan for over a year now! Studying with Dylan every lesson we do a new journal entry and this has been a great way to track my progress over the last year. My Korean has improved so much over the last year I cannot believe it. If you are thinking of booking a lesson with Dylan for either learning korean for the long term or just a few lessons you will not be disappointed! Learning Korean with Dylan has been so much fun and something I look forward to every week!

I always have such a wonderful time with Dylan. He writes down everything we say in class and is kind when giving corrections. He not only is adept at leading conversations, he does a marvelous job teaching grammar. He lets the student’s interests lead the class. If I have a conversation topic or piece of grammar that I want to explore, he’s flexible with helping me achieve my goal for each lesson. The more I speak with him, the more confident I feel in my Korean skills. He has some awesome interests too, so you should ask him about them! I highly recommend working with him.

I’ve had the fortune of taking classes with Dylan and can honestly recommend him to anyone. His focus on speaking from day one was refreshing. The class format suited me well—the learning, review, and immediate practice helped build my confidence in speaking Korean. He’s well-prepared but also able to adapt to questions or student necessities at any given moment. Learning a new language can be a very challenging and nerve wrecking experience, so I appreciated the comfort Dylan brought to his lessons. He is friendly, which helped put me at ease a lot as a student. I felt encouraged taking his classes and always looked forward to covering new material. Though I only had him as a teacher for a short time, I was able to see genuine progress in my learning. If I’m able to continue in my language learning, I would for sure look to be his student again.
