I’ve taken over 300 lessons with Azumi, and I can confidently say she’s an exceptional teacher. When I started, I was a complete beginner, only knowing hiragana and katakana. Thanks to her guidance, I can now read and understand some novels, have meaningful conversations with my language exchange partners in Japan, and I’ve become much more confident in speaking to others while traveling abroad. What I appreciate most is her clear passion for what she does. Azumi genuinely cares about her students’ progress, and will push you to the next level if you are willing to put in the effort. After 300 lessons, I still feel motivated to keep learning with her. I love Azumi-san!!! They are so good at picking up on the nuances of conversation & tailoring their lesson approach to their students' level of knowledge. We've been doing group lessons for about a year now and my Japanese knowledge has truly skyrocketed thanks to their guidance. I recommend them constantly!

Azumi Sensei gave very targeted feedback and was able to identify my areas for improvement immediately. She provided repeated practice and ensured that I corrected my mistakes before moving on to the next point.

When I started taking lessons from Azumi-sensei, I had passed the N1 three years prior and spoke Japanese regularly. My sticking point was my pitch accent and my intonation. I didn't struggle to communicate with others, but I wasn't confident in how I spoke. With Azumi-sensei, I could go back to the basics and improve my pronunciation. Although this most recent lesson was taken half a year after the previous one, I still maintained the improvements Azumi-sensei made to my pronunciation over the last year. This is because Azumi-sensei does a great job of noticing and pointing out mistakes in my speech and creates a lesson summary at the end of every lesson, which I can review at any time. Although I reached out to Azumi-sensei when I was already proficient in the language, I would confidently recommend her to students of ALL levels. She can ensure you build good pronunciation habits early on if you are a beginner, and she can fix your sticking points if you are already proficient.

あずみ先生 (Azumi Sensei) is a great teacher! She uses many methods to teach and convey lessons in an easy-to-understand way for her students. I have had over 50 lessons with Azumi Sensei and can attest that my Japanese vocabulary and grammar have improved greatly. In addition to lesson plans that teach new vocabulary and grammar points, she also utilizes listening homework assignments to improve listening skills. Although I’m still a beginner, I feel more confident in my Japanese after taking classes with Azumi Sensei. Her classes are well-structured around each topic, provides instant feedback when mistakes are made to help students understand and improve, and homework assignments reinforce lesson meanings to better retain new information.

I have enjoyed my classes with Azumi-sensei. She explains learning concepts and grammar concepts in a way I've never heard of before that has made it much more easier to understand and I've had the same concepts explained to me over 5 times. She is definitely an excellent teacher with a lot of experience in teaching and understands where you're having problems even before you communicate it and knows how to help you. And even with all her experience she continues to emphasize the joy of learning. I recommend her wholeheartedly and I look forward to learning a lot from her!
