Serge is a fantastic teacher. He took the time to understand why I'm learning and built a real plan around it, showing up with a clear syllabus, a workbook, and flashcards ready to go. He read me instantly: fast through what I already knew, patient where things were new, so no minute felt wasted. He's warm, encouraging, and genuinely easy to talk to, with structure and heart in equal measure, not just chitchat. I left with homework, a roadmap, and real momentum. I’ve been learning Russian exclusively with Sergei on italki (almost 50 lessons) and I can say that he is everything I expect from a professional teacher. The trial lesson is short, so we definitely went fast in the first session, but it still felt like we were able to evaluate where I am now from self learning, and still get a little learning done from there, as well as make a plan for future sessions. Definitely a good experience.

I had been studying Russian for about 2 months before I decided to join italki for a more structured approach and, without a doubt, Sergey is the best you will find here. He is incredibly patient, but at the same time strict. He always seems to find the easiest way to explain a topic or grammar rule. He has also created quite possibly the best Anki deck I’ve ever seen. On top of everything he’s enjoyable just to talk to, and he will sometimes send you funny videos to watch while he checks your homework.
